We have consumed so much falafel and döners along the way I may just turn into one, but we had know clue that Berlin was the birthplace of the modern take away döner. Of course, there is much more to the city than kebabs!
We stayed in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg with the lovely Maria and Spiros and got to know the area through their recommendations and just a bit of wandering around. To be honest, we didn’t do much in the way of sight seeing, just a lot of walking, eating and drinking.
Stuff around Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg:
We managed to scrape together enough cash to treat ourselves to tickets to Berlin Festival at the old Templehof Airport. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to take my camera into the festival but here are some photos from the Official Berlin Festival site (which are a gazillion times better than my camera would take anyway!)
We had a wonderful time staying with Maria and Spiros and they even sent us off with some home made muesli and home pressed olive oil from Greece (which were both delicious). We hope they make the big trip to Australia one day! Here is their place on airbnb if you want a great experience staying in Berlin.
